Weekly Announcements for the week of April 19-25, 2026
3RD SUNDAY OF EASTER 04-19-2026
Modern disciples, this is also our story. That dusty, lonely “road to Emmaus” is a familiar road to each of us. Thank God that the living Christ meets us in our daily lives, meets us in our sadness and despair, meets us at the edge of broken hearts and shattered dreams and crushed faith, meets us this Sunday with spoken word, with broken bread and poured wine, with the shared fellowship of one another. Somehow our eyes are dried and opened, somehow our spirits are soothed and lifted, somehow our hearts burn within us. And it’s enough to get us back on our feet, back on the way of “go to tell”, eagerly sharing the good news of God’s love with others.

God’s great grace attitude of gratitude generosity!
The best heartburn is Jesus! Beyond support of our 2026 Budget ($187,927 is what we envision spending this year) are those opportunities for special giving on behalf of others. They include:
ELCA World Hunger Appeal (meeting international, national, and local hunger and poverty needs).
We received $10 last Sunday and $1,291 to date. Your love is showing!
Lutheran Charities Appeal (assisting three local social ministry organizations – KenCrest Services, Lutheran
Settlement House, and Gemma Services – that serve thousands of neighbors with various needs).
We have received $250 to date. Lives are being changed!
Mission Offering (For January 1 – June 30 it is Sisters of St. Joseph Refugee Housing Project. We sent them $579.65 in 2024.) We received $10 last Sunday and $258 to date. Help welcome others!
“God’s Global Barnyard” is an ELCA development project to fight poverty. We have received $20 to date.
ST. PETER’S CHURCH COUNCIL (04/13): There were no major decisions made as the Council gathered to fulfill its role of overseeing the spiritual life and activities of this congregation. Of note was the realization that quite a number of Council members have encountered recent expected, unexpected, and even violent deaths in their circle of family and friends… or have their own health challenges. Let’s pray for our elected servant-leaders! We would like to add 2 members to our Church Council to reach the constitution (and “biblical”) number of 12. A Church Council member must be an official member of our congregation, and someone who has contributed an offering of record and taken Holy Communion in 2026 or 2025.

He’s not Jesus, or a doctor, or a king, or a real peace maker. And those who give the applause he craves must be panicking at this chaos that doesn’t stop… and at their own futures.
