Weekly Announcements for Pentecost 7 – Sunday 27, 2025

PENTECOST 7 07-
27-2025

“… how much more will the Father give the Holy Spirit
to those who ask him!”
We are invited to approach God in prayer like a child who speaks to a loving parent. Like young
children, our words of prayer to God might be blurted in phrases, ramblings, or single words. Like
children, we are sometimes filled with joy, wonderment, and excitement, so much that we giggle,
laugh, shout, and jump up and down with glee. Like children, we sometimes cry and whine, point to
our wounds, and sigh in silence because there simply are no words to express our pain. Like children,
we don’t always understand, sometimes get mad and sometimes pout, sometimes beg and
sometimes bargain and sometimes blame and sometimes threaten. Talking and listening with God
can lead us to new places. Like a loving parent who listens to a child, God hears. Jesus
doesn’t want us to think of God as a distant, inapproachable judge waiting to condemn us. We
are encouraged by Jesus to keep praying, never to leave a prayer unprayed because we doubt
it will be answered. Persist. Pray it. Trust God’s love and listen for God’s answer. Don’t lose
heart. But also don’t expect God to be your personal ever-ready vending machine. God does
so much better than that!

Thank you, All Saints Choir, for your steady presence and passionate singing! During August

the Choir break.

MAKE AMERICA (and the world) HUMAN AGAIN.
There is a lot of hurt and hate in our world, a lot of racism, the rich trying to crush
the poor, so much suffering from disasters and violence, people losing heart and
careening out of control. Reduce tensions, oppose violence, share God’s love.

give $160 in addition to their regular offering support this year. We have received $1,840 to date. Our goal is
