Weekly Announcements for PENTECOST 17 / World Communion 10-05-2025
PENTECOST 17 / World Communion 10-05-2025
Today Christians all over the world will gather in small and large groups to celebrate Holy Communion.
As we break the bread and pour the cup, we proclaim and celebrate our connection to each other through Jesus Christ. The things that seem to separate us – geographical distances, our cultural and economic and political differences, our treasured and conflicting theologies, and our embarrassing divisive attitudes (including racism) should not keep us from understanding that God’s purpose was not simply to save individuals, but also to bring together in healing and unity that which is broken and divided. As one single global family of compassion and love, with Christ as the Head (and also the Heart?), the Church represents the unity and the peace that the world desperately seeks but will not discover apart from Christ. Let us rekindle the gift of God that is our heritage and is alive within us! Let us be faithful in our living and fervent in our loving!
