Weekly Announcements for FIFTH SUNDAY IN LENT 4-06-202

+ The New Thing of Lent +
Our God is making all things new! Lent is a church season to realize, rejoice, and receive what God offers. Isaiah the prophet promises it—dry grounds in the sea, rivers in the desert, a return from exile. Mary anticipates it, anointing Jesus’ feet with costly perfume in preparation for his day of burial. And Paul celebrates it as he remembers the changed new life that has been gifted him through the grace of Jesus Christ. What wonderful new thing is God doing and seeking to accomplish in your life this Lent? In Christ you are a new creation. The traditional disciplines of Lent down through the ages were the act of giving alms (making an offering to help those in need), the act of praying (devoting more time to listen and to share with God), and the act of fasting (abstaining from eating for a set period of time, skipping a meal, not eating a food we like, etc.) During the 40 days of Lent, GIVE to realign yourself with others, PRAY to realign yourself with God, and FAST to realign yourself with self. Sundays are not included in the 40-day Lenten period. Each Sunday is a re-enactment of the resurrection!

3) Do you believe that Jesus died for your sins?
4) Will you now trust Jesus as your Savior and Lord?
