Weekly Announcements for All Saints Sunday 11-02-2025
All Saints Sunday 11-02-2025
Today we remember with a lighted candle, a chime of bells, and our smiles and tears and thanksgiving the four members of our St. Peter’s congregation who have completed their life’s journey since last All SAINTS SUNDAY (except for one we missed last year): John L. Hill (01-13-2024); Rosella Neal McVay (05-30-2025); Ann Marie Hopkins (06-30-2025); and Charlotte “Lennie” Gaither (10-01-2025). These four each lived the faith here on earth, trusting and following and serving God. In a world where some people are immobilized by hurt and draw back from others, and some people are infected with hate and strike out at others, and some people are mostly about self and seek to use and manipulate others, these four made it their business to love. They reached out to others through their faith, their personalities, their words and actions, their financial giving. They bore the name, spirit, and mission of Jesus Christ. They have completed their life’s journey and died in Christ, and they now rest from their labors – no more hunger and thirst, no more pain and suffering, no more tears. Now everything is at peace. Now all is joy. Now the power of death has given way to everlasting life in Jesus Christ. Certainly there are other loved ones of faith – relatives and friends and neighbors and co-workers and well-known and hardly known saints – that we might mourn and celebrate today. Let’s remember and celebrate our dearly loved faithful ones and all the saints who have gone before us. And let us wipe away our tears and be steadfast in our daily journey to join them over there!

ELCA World Hunger Appeal (meeting international, national, and local hunger and poverty needs);
$1,685.00 received to date in 2025.
Lutheran Charities Appeal (assisting three local social ministry organizations – KenCrest Services, Lutheran
Settlement House, and Gemma Services – that serve thousands of neighbors with various needs);
$35.00 last week and $1,044.50 received to date in 2025.
Mission Offering (For July – December we have selected Lutheran Settlement House, one of our Lutheran Charities, for additional support;.$215.00 has been received to date. Our January 1 – June 30 Mission Offering was Steven’s Wings Global Youth Adventures. We received $840.00.)

Bishop’s Fund (used by him for emergencies and special needs); $345 was received.
Another giving opportunity! The Rev. Dr. Mark Bethala is an 86 years young Lutheran pastor who grew up in India and is a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Olney. He is collecting funds by mid-November to help build a simple church structure (total estimated cost of $5,000, just partial walls and a simple roof) in the village of Ramapuram, a rural area of poverty and some opposition by Hindu followers, but also a place where Christian growth has begun. Pastors G&N are committing $500 to Vision and Mission Ministries. For more information, look at their website, www.vamm.us, or speak to the Pastors.
