PENTECOST 3 / JUNETEENTH / FATHER’S DAY 06-18-2023 Many are “harassed and helpless” in our world. God loves us deeply and dearly and depends on us to love others with the same degree of compassion and commitment God offers us. It won’t always be easy. And sometimes it won’t look so successful. Our Lord Jesus sends us forth fluffy, slithering, and cooing to be God’s laborers for God’s plentiful harvest… that is, “like sheep in the midst of wolves… wise as serpents… innocent as doves (Matthew 10:16).” If God is calling us to press on, to go forth, then let us stand up and do it…
TODAY
9:00AM All Saints Choir warm-up.
10:00AM + PENTECOST SEASON WORSHIP + (in person and online)
11:20AM All Saints Choir rehearsal.
- PETER’S CHURCH COUNCIL (6/12): (1) met on Zoom (weather threat, transportation and attendance issues); (2) received Pastors’, Property Committee, and Youth Ministry planning reports; (3) learned details about summer rental from a preschool and St. Peter’s participation in the C.B.S. Food Program for children.
Bear Creek Camp Sunday. We are so grateful for the blessing of last Sunday’s visit from the Executive Director and other staff and for a good attendance from our kids! There were 65 people in the sanctuary for worship, followed by lunch and two sets of meetings related to our children and youth. The cost of a week of overnight camp this season is $75. Don’t delay in registering for camp. Often our kids will choose Session 8 (August 6-11 this year).
“Trudi’s Challenge”
During our 92nd ANNUAL MEETING OF ST. PETER’S (February 26), Trudi Wright suggested that 70 people giving an extra $143.00 in regular giving during calendar year 2023 would add about $10,000 to our Budget Income, taking care of our anticipated $7,322 deficit and creating a small surplus for 2023. Pastors Gwen and Neil liked that idea. If you would like to join in that quest, please designate such extra giving as “Trudi’s Challenge”. But it will blend with other general giving toward our 2023 Budget needs. Total since February 26: $1,612.00. Lord, let me steadily walk your path. Help me to give witness to your love through generous giving!
Goodness is stronger than evil;
love is stronger than hate;
light is stronger than darkness;
life is stronger than death;
victory is ours through Him who loved us.

To date in 2023, we have received $267.00 and pray to do better. Please note that June 30 is just twelve days away. In 2022, Covenant House reached out to 910 young people through its core programs and services.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all fathers and father figures! Brothers in Christ, pray to the Lord and ask him to continue to help you grow into a real man of God and a good example of a father’s love. If you messed up before, start new right now.
