+   Zeal   +

The Kingdom of God is at hand. It seems foolish, it doesn’t make sense, but God loved you enough to send Jesus, and Jesus loved you enough to suffer and die on your behalf. But this morning Jesus comes to church with a whip in his hand and sadness in his heart. He can’t understand that we can’t keep our priorities straight and why we allow our lives to be full of confusion and clutter, distraction and distortion. He wonders why we sin so easily, then try to deny or excuse what we have done or what we have failed to do. And he cannot accept that even our religious lives are infected with self-centered striving and phony pretending. So he is coming to “turn our tables over”, he wants to “clean house” in our hearts and our minds, he wants to “drive out” the sinfulness in our lives and our church. Maybe his zeal for God and for the salvation of all humanity will spark our own. Become passionate, get all excited, “go crazy” about God’s love.

Giving in 2024

Our proposed 2024 Budget was adopted at our 93rd ANNUAL MEETING. Our Budget Income will need to average $3,457.44 each of the 52 weeks. We can accomplish this! In 2023 we averaged $3,418.98 each of the 52 weeks. Last Sunday’s offering (not counting online giving) was $3,968.00. God has blessed us to be a blessing! Let’s all stay faithful to the One we call our Savior and our Lord. Our first Mission Offering will be designated by the Church Council when it meets; we have received $235 to date.

Pastor Neil is humbled, grateful, tearful, and uplifted by last Sunday’s celebration of his 45th anniversary as an ordained pastor.
So many blessings, so many memories, so many faithful Christians along the journey!

Thank you for your presence and presents, for kind words and warm love.

93rd ANNUAL MEETING OF ST. PETER’S

We are grateful for those members of the Congregation who were in the sanctuary and online for our Annual Meeting! Every year (except for the 2021 and 2022 COVID-19 years!) we have gathered together to do our official business. Last Sunday we: (1) corrected and then approved Minutes from our 92nd Annual Meeting; (2) received a verbal report (with corrections to written report) from the Pastors; (3) elected Regina Carter, Armia Dennis, Brenda Draper, Linda Gillum, Janice Henderson, Rashidah Perkins, and Trudi Wright to lead and serve on our Church Council; (4) approved a 2024 Budget of $179,786.90; (5) discussed property (window replacement and window repair, repair of door frame at Rhoda Hall stairs, chair lift training and responsible use).

May God continue to bless us with grace and mercy and lead us on that journey of loving others!
