BAPTISM OF OUR LORD 01-12-2025
Dear God, thank you for the gift of a new year to serve You:
help me to talk right;
help me to walk right;
help me to see right;
help me to feel right;
help me to do right
in Your sight. Amen.
Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president emerita, Children’s Defense Fund
This prayer is similar to the pledge Pastor Neil taught nephew Matthew when he was a small child:
“Today I will try to think right, say right, do right, and be right.”
A new year brings a fresh opportunity and a spiritual challenge to be regular and responsible in using our God-gifted lives and resources in faithful living and fervent loving. Today is just day #12 of 365 opportunities to do and to be this. As we renew our Baptism promises, may you always remember your identity as God’s baptized child… may you never forget your mission as God’s anointed servant… and may you never stop trusting in God’s power to enable you in difficult times.
