3RD SUNDAY OF EASTER
04-19-2026 10:00AM Worship (in person and online)
+ WE ANNOUNCE THE VICTORY +
THE OPENING RITE FOR EASTER 3:
L Jesus is risen! Jesus is alive! Death could not hold him!
The tomb is open, the grave is empty, and there is an astounding message of hope and joy in the air!
C But dejected disciples trudge bleary eyed and dreary hearted along a dusty road.
L Jesus is risen! Jesus is alive! Jesus is both real and right here with us!
C But hearts have been broken, dreams were shattered, and lives are left empty and lonely.
L Jesus is risen! Jesus is alive! Jesus is our Messiah and the Lord of our life!
C Lord, help us to stop living as if we are the dead ones!
Meet us on that dusty road of lost causes and transform us with your resurrection power!
L May our hearts burn! May the scriptures inspire us! May the broken bread sustain us!
C Risen Lord, the good news cannot wait!
Send us up the road and down the street in a hurry to share the life-changing news with others.
Jesus is risen! Jesus is alive! Jesus is Lord! ALLELUIA!
OPENING SONG: “This Is the Day” Brown #262
(1) This is the day, this is the day… that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice… and be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made… We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day… that the Lord has made.
(2) He is alive, He is alive… and now so am I, and now so am I.
Sing praise to Him, sing praise to Him… He forgives my sin, He forgives my sin.
He is alive and now so am I… Sing praise to Him, He forgives my sin.
He is alive, He is alive… and now so am I.
CELEBRATION OF NEW LIFE IN CHRIST:
L Followers of Jesus, we have a message to hear and a story to tell.
Let sorrow turn to joy and let shadows turn to light,
let fear turn to faith and let doubt turn to assurance,
let cowardice turn to courage and let hesitation turn to proclamation,
let death turn to life, and let there be hope when hope is gone!
I invite you to celebrate the presence, the peace, the power, and the promises of Jesus Christ with a neighbor by making
the sign of the cross on their forehead, and saying –
“Receive [+] the sign of the cross. Because HE died, YOU are alive!”
THE PEACE GREETING… We share the peace, love, and forgiveness of the RISEN CHRIST!
SONG OF PRAISE: “Lord, I lift your name on high, Lord, I love to sing your praises.
I’m so glad you’re in my life, I’m so glad you came to save us.
You came from heaven to earth to show the way;
from the earth to the cross, my debt to pay;
from the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky; Lord, I lift your name on high!”
THE PRAYER OF THE DAY:
O God, by the cross of your Son we are redeemed from the futility of sin… by his rising we are free from the
fear of death… and by his love we are made new in the living and enduring Word of God.
Open our eyes and our hearts in faith and joy. Free our tongues and our hands in witness and in love. Amen.

AN AFFIRMATION OF OUR FAITH (The Apostles’ Creed):
L Living in the joy and the power of the Risen Lord, let us boldly confess our faith…
C I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and
born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He
descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the
right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the
resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS… We pray that all people might be transformed by the GOOD NEWS of Easter!
