Weekly Announcements for the week of April 12, 2026

2ND SUNDAY OF EASTER 04-12-2026

At our worst points of failure, in our doubts and in our fears, the Risen Lord – who can burst through the tight-sealed tomb and the locked doors of a hiding place – can also burst through our locked minds and hidden faith. Thank God for the peace of forgiveness and the power of the Holy Spirit, for second chances to live the new life of Christ and to share it with others!

ThiS week At st. peTer’s

Monday, 7:00PM CHURCH COUNCIL meeting on Zoom.

Wednesday, 10:30AM Senior Ministry “Games and Social Activity” in Rhoda Hall. Join the fellowship!

Thursday, 7:30PM AL-ANON STEP GROUP. Find and share support to overcome codependence!

Friday, 6:30PM Girl Scout troops.

April 15 is U.S. Federal Income Tax Day. You might recall that, looking at a Roman coin, Jesus said, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God’s the things that are God’s.” But he was not endorsing Caesar’s authority, nor was he teaching that Christians owe loyalty to both God and government. Instead, he was exposing the hypocrisy of his opponents and reminding his hearers that their full undivided allegiance belongs to God alone. Political and religious leaders will sometimes seek to deceive and mislead you.

God’s great grace attitude of gratitude generosity!

Beyond support of our 2026 Budget ($187,927 is what we envision spending this year) are those opportunities for special giving on behalf of others. They include:

ELCA World Hunger Appeal (meeting international, national, and local hunger and poverty needs).

We received $5 last Sunday and $1,281 to date. Your love is showing!

Lutheran Charities Appeal (assisting three local social ministry organizations – KenCrest Services, Lutheran

Settlement House, and Gemma Services – that serve thousands of neighbors with various needs).

We have received $250 to date. Lives are being changed!

Mission Offering (For January 1 – June 30 it is Sisters of St. Joseph Refugee Housing Project. We sent them $579.65 in 2024.) We received $15 last Sunday and $248 to date. Help welcome others!

“God’s Global Barnyard” is an ELCA development project to fight poverty. We have received $20 to date.
