Weekly Announcements for the week of 2-15-2026

TRANSFIGURATION OF OUR LORD 02-15-2026
Today’s worship is a bridge between the Advent-Christmas–Epiphany cycle and the
Lent-Easter cycle that begins in a few days with Ash Wednesday. UP ON THE
MOUNTAINTOP JESUS IS TRANSFIGURED – dazzling light, glowing face, bright cloud,
special guests and private conversation, thundering voice offering divine proclamation,
mystery and awe and maybe even a sense of foreboding. DOWN THE MOUNTAINTOP
JESUS COMES – perhaps better prepared to go to Jerusalem to suffer and die. The three
disciples who were with Jesus – Peter, James, and John – and all the disciples of every time
and place – you and I – need that vision of glory, that glow of a promise, and a glimmer of
hope in order to follow Jesus on the way to the cross. LISTEN TO JESUS! It is a fearful thing
to be with Jesus sometimes. But to those of us who have followed him, it is more fearful to be
without him.

TODAY

9:00AM All Saints Choir warm-up for worship.
10:00AM + Epiphany Season Worship + (in person and online)
11:45AM Vitality Survey Sunday luncheon downstairs!

WELCOME TO ALL! We invite you to share in our new life together which is being shaped by the
awesome good news of Jesus Christ crucified and now risen among us. Don’t miss or ignore God’s
call to you. Today we thank the Rev. Linda Manson for her presence and faith, for the preached
Word, and for sharing the recent Vitality Survey results with us during lunch. Pastor Manson has quite
a job title: Director for Evangelical Mission / Assistant to the Bishop for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion,
and Belonging for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

ICE STORMS TO PRAY ABOUT IN THE U.S.A.
(1) This icy winter – Deep freezes causing hardship and struggle across much of our nation.
Lives are being lost, homes destroyed, and the future in turmoil.
(2) The I.C.E. “military” – Untrained, undisciplined, and not held accountable for violence and
murder against non-criminal immigrants and innocent citizens. (Less than 14% of 400,000
immigrants arrested by I.C.E. in President Trump’s first year back in the White House had charges or
convictions for violent criminal offenses. American citizens are realizing that this goes far beyond the
publicized “worst of the worst”. Almost 40% had no criminal record at all, or are only accused of civil
immigration offenses, such as living in the U.S. illegally or overstaying permission to be in the country.
American citizens who have been killed are often labelled radical domestic terrorists who initiated violent
and dangerous criminal action against authorized I.C.E. agents, but the videos suggest otherwise.)
(3) The chilling effect of our President’s heart, mind, health, abusive greed, and unlimited
truth-bending as he tries to control our nation and conquer the world. The “genius king”
seems to be faltering. And now some of his support crew are beginning to turn against him…
2025 ANNUAL REPORTS are now due for our March 1 Annual Congregational Meeting.

Faith in action through grateful giving! 

Recent offerings given in worship or through the mail have been received but not tabulated due to
weather, travel, and illness. We are grateful to all those who make a financial offering in some way to
express gratitude to the Lord, to extend God’s love to others, and to support God’s mission that
occurs at and beyond St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Keep the faith, but not just to yourself.
ST. PETER’S CHURCH COUNCIL (2/9): (1) met with Pastor Linda Manson regarding our congregation’s
Vitality Survey; (2) approved Minutes of 01-12 Council meeting; (3) selected Sisters of St. Joseph Refugee
Housing Project as our Mission Offering from January 1 – June 30 (We sent them $579.65 in 2024); (4) voted
to increase funeral rentals for use of the Sanctuary and use of Rhoda Hall by non-members; (5) discussed
several brief topics. Pray for your elected servant leaders, pray for your church, and pray for the faith,
the love, and the work we all share.
