Weekly Announcements for 10-26-2025
Reformation Sunday 10-26-2025
As long as sin remains in this world, we will face challenges to God’s living word of grace and freedom,
not only because of those who would keep us enslaved if they could, but also because of our own
bondage to various powers, including this “thingdom” of power, prestige, prosperity, and pleasure that
our culture preaches and pimps as the good life. Today we celebrate redemption, restoration,
renewal, and revival through the gift of God’s grace in Christ Jesus! May each of us rediscover
that no other life than LIFE IN CHRIST will save, satisfy, or sustain us. Find your freedom by grabbing
on and holding on to Jesus! Welcome to St. Peter’s. Here is a place and a people where you can
receive, practice, grow, and go in God’s love.

Beyond support of our 2025 Budget ($186,576.00 is what we envision spending this year) are
various special opportunities for giving on behalf of others. They include:
ELCA World Hunger Appeal (meeting international, national, and local hunger and poverty needs);
$100.00 last week and $1,685.00 received to date in 2025. Your spirit of love is on the shine!
Lutheran Charities Appeal (assisting three local social ministry organizations – KenCrest Services,
Lutheran
Settlement House, and Gemma Services – that serve thousands of neighbors with various needs);
$95.00 last week and $1,009.50 received to date in 2025. Your compassion is showing!
Mission Offering (For July – December we have selected Lutheran Settlement House, one of our
Lutheran Charities, for additional support;.$215.00 has been received to date. And our January 1 – June
30 Mission Offering was Steven’s Wings Global Youth Adventures. We received $840.00.)
Lutheran World Relief (responding to those various tragedies and disasters and emergency needs);
$50 received to date in 2025.
Bishop’s Fund (used by him for emergencies and special needs); $345 was received.
Another giving opportunity to consider! Pastors Gwen and Neil recently met with Rev. Dr. Mark
Bethala, an 86 years young Lutheran pastor who grew up in India and is a member of St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church in Olney. He is collecting funds by mid-November to help build a simple church
structure (total estimated cost of $5,000, just partial walls and a simple roof) in the village of
Ramapuram, a rural area of poverty and some opposition by Hindu followers, but also a place
where Christian growth has begun. Pastors G&N are committing $500 to Vision and Mission
Ministries. For more information, look at their website, www.vamm.us, or speak to the Pastors.
