+ We Rejoice in God’s Spirit +
OPENING SONG: “GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS” Tan #158
THE OPENING RITE:
L Our soul waits for God, who is our help and our shield.
C Our hearts are glad, because we trust in God’s holy name and steadfast love.
L The God who once called an old man, Abraham, and an old barren woman, Sarah… and used them to do something
good among the people of this earth… calls us in the midst of our daily lives.
C We come with our fear and our faults, seeking to respond with faith.
L The author of Hebrews tells us today that “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
C In changing and challenging times, may our faith be full of trust, hope, and conviction.
L And this week Jesus tells us, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
And therefore we pray…
C Loving God, you are the source, the guide, and the goal of our lives.
Guide me to invest my life in your Kingdom,
to have a heart that is centered in Jesus Christ…
to practice a faith that is alive, “woke”, real, and active…
to invest my life in loving and serving others,
and to be prepared to die because I have learned how to live. Amen.

THE SERMON: Pastor Gwen
SONG RESPONSE: “THROUGH IT ALL
(1) I’ve had many tears and sorrows, I’ve had questions for tomorrow,
there have been times I didn’t know right from wrong.
But in every situation God gave blessed consolation
that my trials come to only make me strong.
Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God.
Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.
(2) I’ve been to lots of places, and I’ve seen a lot of faces,
there have been times I felt so all alone.
But in my lonely hours, yes, those precious lonely hours,
Jesus let me know that I was His own.
(3) I thank God for the mountains, and I thank Him for the valleys,
I thank Him for the storms He brought me through;
For if I’d never had a problem I wouldn’t know that He could solve them.
I’d never know what faith in God could do.
THE PRAYERS… We pray for NEW LIFE in the Spirit and for the MISSION of the Church to the world!
